Monkey Detonator depicts a cheerful monkey, listening to music with a headset and jumping on a bright yellow bomb detonator. Monkey Detonator has various interpretations, obviously a commentary on animal rights and how our time is running out before the oppressed, be that the working class or animals we keep in cages, will strike back…
Auction Results
This rare edition on canvas of the iconic Monkey Detonator sold only once at auction at Bonhams London on 21 September 2011 for GBP 97,250. Although this canvas is inscribed 5/25, the number of works executed from the edition is not recorded. The accompanying Certificate from Pest Control therefore lists it as being from a series. Other recorded examples have slight differences in the coloring of the detonator as well as variants in the size and medium of the work.
