BANKSY VALUE: GDP Prints & Editions (2019)

BY

Banksy’s Gross Domestic Product project, launched in 2019, occupies a singular position within the artist’s oeuvre, blurring the boundaries between art, commerce, and institutional critique. Conceived at once as a response to legal pressures and as a fully formed artistic gesture, GDP introduced a series of objects and editions that challenge traditional definitions of authorship, value, and ownership.

From limited-edition prints to subversive homewares, these works extend Banksy’s practice beyond the street and into the domestic sphere, where irony and discomfort quietly settle into everyday life. Understanding the GDP editions is therefore not simply a matter of cataloguing objects—it is an entry point into one of the most conceptually layered moments in Banksy’s career, where the market itself becomes both medium and message.
